The Minot North men’s soccer team hosted Dickinson in a Western Dakota Association (WDA) game on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28, at Sentinels Stadium, earning a 3-0 victory.
Minot North got on the scoreboard first when Emerson Reese fed Jaden Marshall the ball at the six-minute mark. The Sentinels held a 1-0 lead going into halftime.
The same pair attacked 30 minutes into the second half, but the result was the same and they were leading 2-0 at the time. Two minutes later, Jace Hoagland passed the ball to Teagan Dangel for his second goal of the first half and third of the game.
Minot North had 12 shots in the first half and 10 in the second half. Of these shots, three in the first half were on goal, and five in the second half were on goal. Minot’s goaltender made seven saves en route to the shutout.
The Sentinels’ Logan Obitt remains the points leader with six goals and two assists in eight games against WDA, while Reese has three goals and four assists in seven games.
In net for Minot North, Griffin Wald made 72 saves on 116 shots and Macklin Kelly made 64 saves on 95 shots, also posting two shutouts. There is. Brantley Robinson faced eight shots and saved four of them from the net.
The Sentinels will travel to Bismarck Century on Tuesday, Oct. 1, and then to Mandan-St. Mary will play the final WDA regular season game on Thursday, October 3rd.
Minot North (3-11-0, 4-13-0) is currently eighth in the WDA standings. Century (5-8-1, 5-8-1) is in seventh place and Mandan St. Louis is in seventh place. Mary’s (6-6-3, 6-6-3) will take the fifth slot.
As the regular season draws to a close, teams begin preparing for the 2024 North Dakota High School Activities Association Boys Soccer State Tournament. The state tournament will be held Oct. 10-12 at Cushman Field in Grand Forks.
