A South Los Angeles rapper whose YouTube videos have garnered millions of views pleaded guilty to federal charges and was sentenced Monday to nearly three years in prison.
Trevor Hurd, 31, known by his stage name Crip Mack, was sentenced to two years and nine months in federal prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Heard pleaded guilty in April in downtown Los Angeles to one felony charge of possessing ammunition.
He was arrested in state court by U.S. marshals in December, shortly after a Los Angeles County judge dropped firearms charges and agreed to allow federal prosecutors to take over the case, according to court records.
According to the indictment, Heard was found in September in possession of a handgun without a serial number, commonly known as a ghost gun, and 10 rounds of ammunition.
According to documents, Hurd has been arrested five times on felony charges and convicted at least once since 2014. The charges include two arrests for being a felon in possession of a firearm, attempted second-degree armed robbery, grand theft and delivery of a controlled substance, according to the indictment.
