Following the ability to mark podcasts as played and updates to Sound Search, YouTube Music is rolling out a redesign of its artist pages on Android and iOS. The redesign includes left-aligned artist names, subscriber counts, and a proper pill-shaped button for following.
Along with those, there’s the option to start radio or shuffle — YouTube Music even tested “play” earlier this month — and circular buttons with smaller touch targets and an overall better look.
The Latest Releases card will still be available before you get to the Top Songs section, followed by the rest of the feed.
The visual tweaks result in a more modern, compact look, and the new design is consistent with the redesign of our Album and Playlist pages in 2022. Our previous Artist pages dated from 2019 (with the Material 3 tweaks coming a short while later) and were in dire need of an update.
The update is a server-side update and has started rolling out now on both Android and iOS.
I personally like the new design, it has a more minimalist and clean look with more free rest space. It’s great to have rest space, especially for relatively small screens (like phones) when there are too many items or too big buttons the space looks cluttered and unenjoyable.
