YouTube mobile’s latest changes include an easier way to share specific timestamps or clips of a video via an in-app share sheet.
While the process of sharing videos hasn’t necessarily changed, sharing a specific timestamp or link to a timestamp on YouTube mobile has always been a pain. It’s unclear when the change was made, but it appears to be fairly recent.
One of the few other ways to share additional timecode or timestamps on mobile is to use the “Clip” feature, but it requires trimming the timeline and creates a looping 60-second YT short of your selected content, limiting the exact length and making it a tedious process in itself.
Now, when you click on the Share button, a toggle button will appear on the top right of the Share sheet that allows you to enable sharing to a specific portion or time of the currently playing video. This is what it looks like below:
This effectively simplifies the process from previously requiring you to add “&t=” and the associated time in “XmXXs” format (e.g. https://youtu.be/ODXquIAA-EE&t=1m30s).
While you can manually enter a timecode on desktop, YouTube mobile doesn’t yet have the ability to do so or type it in. You can adjust the time by scrubbing the video’s timeline, which is the only way to change the timestamp in the share sheet.[リンクをコピー]Tapping will create a text link that you can share in other applications. As mentioned before, this is standard YouTube format, so you can edit this text link if you choose a different time in the video.
