You may remember The Mortuary Assistant from a few years ago, but when it launched on PC in August 2022, it went viral on YouTube thanks to gameplay videos from the likes of jacksepticeye and Markiplier, exposing tens of millions of people (yes, really!) to the creepy new horror game.
Now, several years later, The Mortuary Assistant is finally launching on Friday, August 2 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. This will be the definitive edition of the game and will include a host of new features.
“The Mortuary Assistant is coming to all consoles on August 2nd! To celebrate the second anniversary of The Mortuary Assistant’s launch, the Definitive Edition will be launching in two weeks, adding new ghosts, new corpses, an embalming-only mode, stability & bug fixes, and more!”
Looking at reviews, The Mortuary Assistant has garnered very positive reviews over the past few years, with many players praising its authentic scares. The game currently has a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.

We’re still waiting for details on the price of The Mortuary Assistant for Xbox, but it’ll probably be around £20 / $20 – keep an eye out for it when it launches on the Xbox Store next Friday.
“With your degree in Mortuary Studies under your belt, you’ve begun work as an apprentice at River Fields Funeral Home. Over the past few months, you’ve helped the funeral director with the day-to-day tasks, as well as learning the ins and outs of embalming and how to properly handle and care for the deceased. Late one night, you’re called in to perform an embalming task. Death doesn’t end in daylight, but there’s something special about these bodies. And it’s because there’s something special about you. The phone rings, the funeral director’s phone rings. The rumors are true, and you can’t leave.”
