Google has unveiled a new artificial intelligence-powered chat assistant for YouTube creators designed to help them recover their hacked YouTube channels. In a blog post detailing the new tool, Google said the support assistant will guide affected users through the process of re-securing their login information and help them recover their accounts.
The support assistant is currently in testing phase and is only available to some YouTube creators. Google has assured that efforts are underway to expand the feature to all users. Currently, the AI assistant only supports English.
YouTube Support Assistant: How to recover a hacked YouTube channel
Open the YouTube Help webpage at support.google.com/youtube. Sign in to your Google Account if you’re not already signed in. Open the Help Center menu and scroll down to “Fix a problem” or “Manage your account and settings.” Under this section, affected accounts will see a new option, “Recover Hacked YouTube Channel.” On this new page, there’s a “Chat with Hacked Channel Assistant” button, which will open a chat window with the AI assistant.
Google says the tool will help protect your login details and reverse any changes made by hackers by asking you a series of questions about your account and YouTube channel.
Additionally, Google encourages users to check for signs that their account may have been compromised before starting the recovery process: If you notice changes to your profile picture, channel description, AdSense settings, or videos you haven’t posted, this could be a sign that your Google account may have been hacked or compromised.
