X is adding a new feature to its platform: video conferencing. It’s currently being tested internally and is called X Conference. X employee Chris Park shared some details about the tool, which appears to be a basic multi-person video conferencing tool, similar to Zoom and Google Meet. Park said features like speaker pinning and improved notifications are in the works. Additionally, he said X Conference is already a strong alternative to other popular video conferencing platforms. App researcher Nima Owji also shared some insights about the feature, mentioning support for spatial audio and built-in subtitles. While these features are a plus, it’s not entirely clear who the target users of this new feature are outside of X employees.
The platform already features one-to-one video calling and public broadcasting through Spaces, but X has encountered technical issues during high-profile streams, raising questions about the stability of the new video conferencing features.

It will be interesting to see how X Conference develops and who its target audience will be. Given existing video capabilities and technical challenges, it is unclear whether X Conference will be successful. However, this is in line with X’s ambition to become an all-in-one platform.
X’s foray into video conferencing raises many questions: Can it compete with existing platforms like Zoom and Google Meet? Can it overcome the technical issues that have plagued other video features? And most importantly, can it find a target audience outside of its own employees? Only time will tell. In the meantime, it’s clear that X isn’t afraid to experiment and try new things. Whether X Conference is successful or not, it’s a testament to the company’s focus on innovation and its willingness to push the boundaries of what’s possible.
