Malachi Black’s AEW contract status has been a topic of discussion online in recent days, and while it is unclear when Black will become a free agent, there appears to be some outside interest in the player. The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter has an update on Black’s situation, with Dave Meltzer stating that WWE would like to bring the wrestler back when he is available.

According to a report today, Black’s contract will likely end in early 2025, but injuries could mean it takes a little longer. Meltzer also reiterated that Black asked for his release from AEW around the time Paul “Triple H” Levesque took over WWE’s creative team, a request Black had previously denied.
Meltzer is under the impression that Black is leaving, but not all of his stablemates seem to think so. Buddy Matthews reportedly signed a new AEW contract earlier this year, but it’s unclear how long that contract will last. Details regarding the length of Brody King and Julia Hart’s contracts were not immediately available. King signed with the company in early 2022, and while it’s unclear when Hart signed, it was reported last year that he signed a full-time contract with AEW despite not receiving an “All Elite” graphic. It was done.

Black appeared on the WWE roster as Aleister Black before being released in 2021. Although he was eventually promoted to the main roster, he is often remembered for his days in WWE NXT, where he was once a top star on the brand. Black has spoken positively about his working relationship with Triple H, which likely contributed to the perception that he wanted to return to WWE.
