Brent Montgomery’s Wheelhouse Entertainment has brought on “Dr. Pimple Popper” producer Whitney White as executive vp of development for its food and lifestyle division Butternut, and promoted Liz Fine to executive vp of programming for the Wheelhouse unit.
The executive additions come shortly after Wheelhouse launched a new crime and investigation brand, Twist, and received a minority investment from private equity firm Alignment Growth.
Whitney White, who will report to Butternut President Courtney White, will oversee and create IP while collaborating with existing and emerging talent in the food, home and lifestyle sectors. Wheelhouse’s current Butternut series include Food Network’s “Next Baking Master: Paris,” HGTV’s “Divided by Design,” Roku’s “Celebrity Family Food Battle,” as well as other projects not currently announced.
Whitney White, best known for creating TLC’s hit series “Dr. Pimple Popper” as head of development at Ping Pong Productions, previously served as executive vice president of All3 Media-backed Woodman Park Productions, where her stints include “Battle of the Brothers” for discovery+ and Food Network, “Crack Addicts” for TLC, “Man With A Van” for ID and “Deep Creek” for Snapchat.
Fine most recently served as SVP of Programming at both Spoke Studios and Butternut. He joined Wheelhouse in 2021 as an executive producer, working on a number of shows for Spoke. At Wheelhouse, he served as producer on Netflix’s “Buying Beverly Hills,” Hulu’s “Bianca & Montez: Love & WWE,” “Secret Chef,” the upcoming “Got to Get Out,” and ID’s recently premiered “Bodies in the Water.”
Prior to joining Wheelhouse, Fine served as senior vice president of original series at VH1 and MTV, and prior to that was vice president of programming and development at FYI.
In their new roles, White and Fine will work closely with producing teams across Wheelhouse Entertainment’s current labels, which include Spoke Studios, Butternut, DNA, Twist and Wheelhouse UK.
“At Wheelhouse, our focus is on bringing together creative specialists with expertise in a variety of genres and different production styles, able and willing to work collaboratively across the group,” Montgomery said.
Courtney White added: “As the industry continues to evolve, we place even more emphasis on teamwork and partnerships, which fuels both our creativity and ambition. There’s no doubt that Whitney and Liz embody this strategy, and they’re just fantastic people to work with on a daily basis.”
