It’s inevitable that the Raiders will trade receiver Davante Adams. So what will they get him?
They want a second-round pick, according to a source familiar with the situation. (It’s a second-round pick, not a package that includes a second-round pick.) I’ve heard unconfirmed rumors (so far) that the Jets offered two fourth-round picks. (Again, unconfirmed.)
As mentioned above, one factor will be the amount of Adams’ remaining salary that the Raiders will be paying. At $983,333 per week, he would owe $13.13 million. The more the raider pays, the more he earns in trade compensation.
Through it all, the clock is ticking. The sooner Adams gets to his next team, the better. The sooner the Raiders cut his salary, the better. Regardless of whether they pay to facilitate the trade or not, if this situation drags on, they end up paying close to $1 million a week.
It’s unclear whether other teams besides the Jets will participate. In theory, the more teams there are, the better the deal will be.
Either way, a deal is expected to occur sometime before November 5th. It is in the best interest of all parties to reach an agreement.
