It was a normal weekend in VegasVille for Sammy Hagar. Kudos to some benchmarks. Gather some hardware. Connect some products. Let’s rock the house.
And in this case, abandon your ambitious plans to develop a hotel and casino in Las Vegas.
“I have a plan: Cabo Wabo Resort and Casino,” Hager said Friday, shortly after receiving the keys to the Las Vegas Strip at Cabo Wabo Cantina in the Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood. “I’m really still going to do it, and this is the town I want to do it in. If it’s not here, I’ll find another town.”
Then Hagar smiled and said, “All of you, accept me on this!”
The concept had been in Hagar’s head for over a year. He envisions an upscale Cabo Wabo steakhouse, a themed bar, a spa, food stalls serving authentic Mexican food, and, of course, a Cabo Wabo-branded nightclub with live music.
“We’ve had some owners say, ‘If you really want to do it, we’ll raise the money,'” Hager said. “I really want to do that, but right now I’m just trying to figure it out.”
Hundreds of redheads, members of Hager’s international fan club, were scheduled to attend the groundbreaking and ribbon-cutting ceremony for Sammy’s Cabo Wabo Resort. In fact, they spent several hours together as Hager’s big event was scheduled to take place outside Cabo Wabo Cantina Club on the Strip.
The event ended late because Clark County Commissioner Jim Gibson was caught in an F1 construction-related traffic jam (local residents were quick to note the karmic occurrence).
It turns out the commissioner can’t drive a 55 either.
But the celebration was a happy, albeit hot one, as Hagar celebrated the club’s 15th anniversary (he was also present at the 2009 opening, which really introduced Hager and Gibson).
The Red Rocker, who will celebrate his 77th birthday on October 13th, later formed his strongest backing band at Pearl at the Palms, consisting of bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Vic Johnson, and drummer Kenny Aranoff. Redheads will be holding a party concert with The Circle. He will be filling in for Jason Bonham in this gig.
As usual at Hagar’s events, Rick Springfield showed up and belted out “I’ve Done Everything For You.” The song was originally written and recorded by Hagar, who didn’t do anything with it. However, Springfield’s cover became the second Top 10 hit after “Jesse’s Girl”.

Springfield was in town to perform the finale of the Downtown Rocks free concert series on Fremont Street. These two rockers go back a long way and are business partners in the cocktail brand Sammy’s Beach Bar.
Hagar had just finished his “Best of All World” tour and spent the rest of the weekend rocking it out at Sammy’s Island party venue in the Palms.
Hagar mixed his own hits with Van Halen classics on his just-concluded tour. This was a high-volume experience. Rock superstar Joe Satriani’s guitar was (reportedly) turned up to 11.
“Joe plays so loud because he needs a certain volume to get feedback and to do his job,” Hager said. “I know that, kid. Then Mikey said, “Well, I gotta go so I can hear my voice!” It was the loudest band I’ve ever been in. ”
And he was also in Van Halen.
Speaking of VH, Hagar has yet to hear from his former bandmate, drummer Alex Van Halen. Van Halen is scheduled to release his autobiography “Brothers” on October 22nd.
“I’ve reached out, but I’m not going to reach out to Alex anymore. He doesn’t want to be friends. I’m not going to chase anyone, but I still love the guy,” Hager said. spoke. “Maybe he doesn’t like me for some reason. Maybe I’m too happy for him. I’m too happy for many people.”
Hagar laughed, as if to interrupt the point.
“You know, the only people I’ve ever made enemies with are miserable people,” he said. “It drives them crazy after a while.”
make fun of this
A bona fide R&B legend has signed on to translate his band’s rise to fame into a full-fledged musical. Think of the Four Seasons or “Jersey Boys.” However, it contains funk and a timeless story.
who was where
Jack Ma, the billionaire founder of multinational technology conglomerate Alibaba Group, was at Omnia at Caesars Palace on Friday night.
If you have that much money, you can get into the booth with star DJ Martin Garrix.
cool hang alert
Consummate vocalist Chadwick Johnson will perform Myrons at the Smith Center on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. “What the World Needs Now” features music by Burt Bacharach and Quincy Jones from Johnson’s new EP “Seasons Change,” out now. Johnson is supported by A-plus players Jason Corpuz on piano, Nick Schmidt on bass, Jeremy Klewicki on drums, Tasos Pertekis on guitar, Adrianna Thurber on violin, and Sarah Chaffee on cello. Masu.
I’ve been following CJ in Las Vegas for about 10 years and he’s the real deal. For information, visit thesmithcenter.com.
