The 2024 U.S. Open gets underway in earnest on Monday with the first match of the main draw singles tournament.
Defending champions Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff are looking to become the first players since Serena Williams 10 years ago to win back-to-back singles titles.
Having won his first Olympic gold medal, Djokovic is bidding to break Margaret Court’s record and win a record 25th Grand Slam singles title.
Gauff, who last year became the youngest American to win a major singles title since Williams won her 23rd title in 1999, will be looking to extend the streak of an American man or woman reaching at least one Grand Slam singles final in each year of the modern era.
That has yet to happen at the Australian Open, French Open or Wimbledon this year.
