Traditionally, college football rivalries have elicited a lot of swagger and anger from their respective fans, with very little in the way of actual humor, with fan behavior often resulting in “subtle” acts of vandalism, such as Ohio State students drawing a line through every M on campus during Michigan Week.
If you do encounter someone who laughs at that, immediately cross the road, even if you’re on I-70.
But this season, online fans of the University of California Golden Bears have come up with some really funny ways to badmouth their rival school.
They do so by playing against schools in a Republican-leaning state, leaning into local Berkeley stereotypes, and using a ton of gay-infused epithets that actually empower our community in a cynical way.

Two weeks ago, UC Twitter captured national attention with their perfect insults after the Golden Bears beat Auburn on the road. After the game, UC fans celebrated on social media with rainbow-accented victory laps…
As the meme spread, California Twitter creators began competing to outdo each other in slamming the Woke Agenda. All it needed was another worthy target, notably anti-LGBTQ legislation.

Florida State University is, of course, located in Tallahassee, Governor Ron DeSantis’ hometown.
DeSantis always says, “Florida is a place where woke people go to die.”
Cal Twitter is taking a ride on “Stop Climate Change Air” with the Golden Bears football team to find out if his ideas are correct.
At a facility called Doak Campbell Stadium. At least that was the case until today.
#FSUAthletics Walker Campbell Stadium has announced it will serve only vegan food.
Chick-fil-A, Brisas, concession stands and other establishments inside the stadium will serve Impossible Chicken, Wok-A-Mole & Chips and Impossible Veggie Dogs.

Of course, these memes are completely tongue-in-cheek, but it’s safe to say that if Cal actually covered Doak Campbell in rainbow glitter, it would be the most beautiful building in the entire state of Florida.
