The United Arab Emirates has extradited Italian national Danilo Coppola, who was convicted of financial crimes, in response to an official request.
Minister of Justice Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi and Italian Justice Minister Carlo Nordio confirmed in a telephone conversation that the decision was in accordance with the bilateral extradition treaty between the UAE and Italy.
The Ministers stressed that the successful extradition of Mr. Coppola underscores the continued and unwavering commitment of both central authorities to uphold the rule of law and promote international cooperation.

“This outcome reflects the strong relations between the UAE and Italy and demonstrates our shared determination to ensure that justice is served. Such a procedure confirms the continued cooperation between the UAE and Italy in the pursuit of international justice.
“These agreements clearly demonstrate our keenness to strengthen cooperation on legal and judicial matters in line with international best practices, aiming to strengthen efforts to combat serious and organized crime,” the ministers added.
“This positive development in our judicial cooperation underlines our shared determination to not allow impunity to those who commit crimes and seek to evade justice by seeking refuge abroad,” the ministers said.
Furthermore, both sides underlined their commitment to provide regular updates on priority requests and maintain communication channels between their central authorities, reflecting their firm determination to achieve fruitful judicial cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations between the UAE and Italy.
