UAE team Emirates has signed top talent Pablo Torres for six years. The talented 18-year-old tour rider will turn pro next season and remain with the multi-million dollar team until 2030. The team also announced a contract extension with Marc Soler.
Torres is already familiar with the UAE’s structure. For example, he raced with the UAE’s Gen Z development team this season. In his first year with the Under-23s, the young Spaniard achieved impressive results. For example, he finished second on GC in both the Giro Next Generation and the Tour de L’Avenir. In particular, his performance in the second half of the race was remarkable, winning two mountain stages. The second one in particular caught his imagination. Thus, with a lead of almost four minutes over race two, he arrived at the mythical Colle Finestre and won the stage. He was just 12 seconds short of the overall victory. It was a coup d’état by Dutch overall winner Joseph Blackmore on the penultimate stage. Torres then lost nearly five minutes. The fact that he almost closed that immense gap speaks volumes about his extraordinary talent.
“For me, it is a dream to be part of the UAE Team Emirates World Tour team. I am very excited and enthusiastic to continue to grow in the best team in the world, with the best professionals, surrounded by the same people. ”Torres said excitedly. A message from the team. “The support I have received this year has been fantastic, both from the staff and the riders, and I am happy to be part of the team until 2030,” feels Torres. The next few years are already dedicated to development. “I have worked hard to take this big step, but this is just the beginning and I still have a lot of work to do to show my best to the team. Thank you for your trust.” 1. ”
