UAE Team Emirates has once again strengthened its squad with the addition of Rune Heregots. The 26-year-old Belgian joins from Intermarche Wanty and has penned a two-year contract with world champions Tadej Pogacar’s side. The Flemish-born rider will mainly demonstrate his talent in classics and small stage races.
Speaking on his new team’s website, an excited Heregotts spoke about his move. “I am very happy and excited to be part of UAE Team Emirates for next season,” he said. “I’m really happy and looking forward to being part of a group of top riders in one of the best teams in the world, with the best staff and equipment. I’ll do my best to grow in this race. We’re ready to do that.”I look forward to growing the team over the next few years. ”
Heregotts is known to perform well on small hills and is a skilled time trialist on cobblestones. This year, he won the ZLM Tour’s opening time trial, paving the way for an eventual overall victory. He also won a stage at Ruta del Sol two years ago. Cycling fans may remember him best from the first stage of the Critérium du Dauphiné. The Belgian maintained a 10-second lead against the onrushing crowd on the final straight, but was caught up just 10 meters short of the finish line.

Heregots becomes third signing with UAE team Emirates

Heregots becomes the third addition to the Emirati squad, following previous signings of Florian Vermeersch (Lotto Stony) and Honatan Narváez (INEOS Grenadiers).
