UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Al Hammoudi conveyed his country’s interests during a meeting at the Secretariat with Brigadier General M. Sakawat Hossain, Advisor on Shipping, Textiles and Jute to the Transitional Government.
The ambassador said that the UAE, as a friendly country, believes that investments in Bangladesh, especially Chittagong Port, will be win-win.
He highlighted the capabilities of DP World, a UAE multinational logistics company headquartered in Dubai and involved in port management in over 60 countries.
Adviser Sakawawat welcomed the investment proposals and emphasized Bangladesh’s openness to foreign investment, noting its strong multidimensional relations with the UAE in various fields, especially trade and commerce.
Sakawat also asked the ambassador to facilitate the issuance of transit visas for Bangladeshi seafarers, and the UAE envoy responded that he would seriously consider the matter.
The advisor also highlighted the growing global demand for eco-friendly jute products and urged the UAE to invest in Bangladesh’s jute and textile sector.
He said foreign investment in these sectors is increasing and encouraged Ambassadors to explore these lucrative opportunities.
During the meeting, the UAE Ambassador led a five-member delegation including Jute Textiles Minister M. Abdul Rauf, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Shipping Sanjoy Kumar Banik and other senior officials.
