The discussion took place during an official reception at Basman Palace in Amman, where King Abdullah II warmly welcomed the President of the UAE and his accompanying delegation on a working visit to Jordan and expressed his pleasure on the visit.
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed ongoing bilateral cooperation in areas such as economy, investment, sustainable development, food security, renewable energy and other key areas. The two leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to explore new opportunities for cooperation and build a strategic economic partnership in line with both countries’ aspirations for development and progress.
Sheikh Mohammed and King Abdullah II spoke of the strong and deep-rooted ties between the two countries, dating back to the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late King Hussein bin Talal.
The President of the UAE and the King of Jordan emphasized the importance of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which was signed during their visit. The two leaders noted that this agreement is a natural progression of the long history of fruitful economic relations between the two countries and provides a solid foundation for expanding future opportunities.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and King Abdullah II discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest, especially the situation in the Middle East, including developments in Gaza and Lebanon. Leaders underlined the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve a ceasefire, ensure full protection of civilians in accordance with international humanitarian law, and advance joint efforts to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
Both leaders emphasized the need to step up efforts to prevent the conflict from escalating further and threatening regional stability. The two leaders also emphasized the importance of working towards a just, comprehensive and lasting peace based on a two-state solution to ensure the security of all.
The UAE President praised Jordan’s historic role in supporting the Palestinian people in various ways and expressed his gratitude for Jordan’s contribution to efforts aimed at addressing the humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Both leaders pointed out the importance of strengthening Arab cooperation both bilaterally and collectively, given the difficult situation currently facing the region.
