UAE automates lifting of travel bans, cuts red tape.
ABU DHABI, UAE, August 15: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has introduced a new automated system for lifting travel bans, significantly simplifying the process for those affected. The new approach means travel bans are lifted immediately without the need for manual applications or documentation – a major shift from the previous multi-step, document-intensive process.
The effort is part of the UAE’s broader “Zero Government Red Tape” initiative, which aims to streamline and eliminate unnecessary government procedures. The Ministry of Justice has enhanced several services offered by the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office, with the automatic lifting of travel bans being one of the most notable improvements.
The main updates are as follows:
Automatic lifting: Travel bans on affected individuals are automatically lifted without the need for an individual to request it. Instant processing: The new system replaces a day-long process with an instant, paperless process. Reduced bureaucracy: The streamlined approach eliminated nine procedural steps, achieving a 100% zero bureaucracy rate. Increased efficiency: The time required to lift a travel ban has been reduced from one business day to just a few minutes. No paperwork required: The system no longer requires supporting documentation, such as proof of litigation, further simplifying the process.
These changes are expected to make government services more efficient and easier to use, improving the quality of life for UAE residents. The Ministry of Justice highlighted that the transformation of the travel ban lifting process marks a major step forward in the UAE’s efforts to modernize government operations.
The ministry announced these updates via its official “X” platform (formerly Twitter), highlighting the importance of these changes as the UAE continues to work towards improving and streamlining government services across various sectors.
