ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) called on Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday and discussed investments in Pakistan’s shipping, railway and aviation sectors.
The Emirati delegation that visited the deputy prime minister was led by Sheikh Ahmed Dalmuk Al Maktoum, according to Dar’s office.
“The talks focused on investment opportunities in Pakistan’s shipping, railways and aviation sectors,” according to a statement on Tuesday.
The UAE is one of Pakistan’s closest allies and has frequently bailed out the South Asian country, joining Saudi Arabia and China in providing billions of dollars in loans to support the South Asian nation.
In May, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan announced $10 billion in investments in the country during Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit, according to Sharif’s office.
The South Asian country also signed an agreement this year with the Abu Dhabi (AD) Ports Group, which will invest around $395 million in the development of a container and cargo terminal under a government-to-government (G2G) agreement between the UAE and Pakistan.
