Abu Dhabi: Salem Al Jaberi, Undersecretary for Security and Military Affairs, confirmed that an attack by Sudanese forces targeting the UAE ambassador’s residence in Khartoum caused extensive damage to the building and surrounding area. This attack is a clear violation of the fundamental principle of inviolability of diplomatic facilities and of international treaties and norms, in particular the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
He highlighted the existence of photographs and evidence that irrefutably prove that the ambassador’s residence was targeted, thereby undermining the false narrative promoted by the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Sudanese military. Mr. Al-Jaberi said that the Sudanese Armed Forces, while evading their obligations, are misleading the international community and diverting attention from the suffering of the Sudanese people, thereby reducing Sudan’s ongoing humanitarian disaster caused by this conflict. He pointed out that the government is persistently trying to evade legal and moral responsibility. Through international efforts to end the conflict. The UAE continues to work diligently with its partners towards a peaceful resolution.
Al Jaberi further said that the Sudanese military’s continued denial and refusal to accept responsibility, and its attempts to blame others, blatantly ignore the suffering of the Sudanese people and their legitimate aspirations for stability and prosperity. He emphasized that it shows that he is doing his best. This has been made clear by the desperate attempts and claims they have made over the past nine months as part of their policy towards the UAE, which are contradicted and refuted by supporting facts.
He also invited UN experts to review the evidence and investigate the damage caused by the attack.
In this regard, Al Jaberi expressed his gratitude to over 100 countries and numerous international organizations, who expressed their strong condemnation of this dastardly act and conveyed their solidarity with the UAE against this heinous target.
