DUBAI: The UAE, represented by the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GCAA), held air services consultations with the Civil Aviation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CAAC) in Chinese capital Beijing on July 16 and 17.
The objective was to strengthen bilateral air transport ties and increase air connectivity between the two countries. The UAE delegation was led by Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of GCAA.

The negotiations resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance air connectivity between airports in the UAE and China.
In addition, the two sides agreed to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the field of civil aviation and explore new initiatives to enhance bilateral relations in the aviation sector.
In this regard, Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, highlighted the Authority’s efforts focused on enhancing air transport services, strengthening international presence and improving air connectivity to benefit the UAE’s national carrier. He hailed the agreements reached during the talks and predicted that they will have a significant positive impact on mutually beneficial economic sectors.
He stressed the importance of cooperation and exchange of expertise between the two countries in the fields of aviation security, safety, air transport, aviation industry and investment in the aviation sector.
He added that the first-ever air connectivity forum between the two countries, held on July 15, played a key role in achieving a positive outcome in the negotiations, and stressed the need to hold such forums on a continuous basis to support and strengthen economic and trade relations between the two countries.
