Dubai-based airline Flydubai has rescheduled flights to Dhaka in Bangladesh, an airline spokesman confirmed to Khaleej Times on Saturday.
“Flydubai flights to Dhaka International Airport (DAC) from Saturday (July 20) to Tuesday (July 23) will operate with revised departure times. Flight FZ501 will depart Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 7am (UAE time) instead of 12:10am, while the return flight FZ502 will depart Dhaka International Airport (DAC) at 3pm (Bangladesh time).”
An airline spokesman said it was in contact with customers regarding flight bookings, adding that it “continues to closely monitor the situation (in Bangladesh).”
Meanwhile, an Emirates spokesperson confirmed to Khaleej Times that “the flight to Dhaka is operating as scheduled.”
Bangladesh on Friday imposed a curfew and announced it would deploy troops after police failed to quell days of deadly unrest that has spread across the country.
Bangladesh is facing its worst unrest in years, with at least 110 people killed in protests demanding the government repeal preferential hiring rules for popular civil service jobs.
Meanwhile, Bangladeshis living in the UAE are increasingly worried about the safety of their families back home as violent clashes between protesters and police escalate, communication lines have been cut and there has been a nationwide internet blackout.
