The era of Drake May has arrived.
On Tuesday, the New England Patriots announced that a rookie quarterback will replace Jacoby Brissett as the starter for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. The news came after the Patriots lost to the Miami Dolphins in Week 5, snapping their fourth straight loss.
There are still serious concerns about the struggling offensive line, but the Patriots believe Maye is ready to take the reins. He can’t do much worse than a team that already has the NFL’s worst passing offense and second-worst scoring offense.
One thing this move has already accomplished is helped create excitement and new energy for a 1-4 team that looked like it would repeat its dreadful 2023 season.
Here’s what fans said on social media regarding the quarterback change.
Five weeks too late, but better late than never.
