Alex Pereira’s reign of terror in the light heavyweight division continued on Saturday when he defended his title against Khalil Rountree in the main event of UFC 307.
Pereira (12-2 MMA, 9-1 UFC) earned a fourth-round TKO victory over Rountree (13-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC) in Saturday’s pay-per-view headliner at Delta Center, earning him a 3-0 win in 2024. His second title defense in Salt Lake City further cemented his legendary run since stepping into the Octagon for the first time.
Check out TopX’s (formerly Twitter) reaction to Pereira’s defeat of Rountree at UFC 307 below.

Rountree looks like a middleweight.

Khalil’s southpaw lead???? Does he have a strategy?

10-9 Rountree Jr. after R1.
Takes a cleaner shot and he has Poitan’s thoughts.

A tense round. Mostly it is a process of emotional release. Probably Rountree, but that probably doesn’t matter in the end (this fight is marked as KO). Still, it was a good start for the challenger. 10-9.

“Poatan” left hook hurts Rountree. Pereira makes everything look so effortless. #UFC307

Pereira seems to have finished his read and is applying more pressure. I lured him in for a counter left hook.

One reason Roundtree doesn’t throw kicks is because as a shorter fighter, he’s more likely to miss kicks and get into bad positions.
Bad positioning with Pereira will result in him being knocked out.#UFC307

19-19. It’s clearly Rountree’s round. The big shot landed. #UFC307

Ah, it was Shin and Dome. Khalil has something to think about from Alex. Dare I say it’s 2-0 Rountree, but I don’t expect that to go to the cards.

So far, Rountree has found success in his own hands. It looked like he was saving that kick to surprise Pereira, and it almost worked. Pereira may have pushed himself a little too hard for maybe 10 minutes instead of developing his combinations. #ufc307

Rountree’s speed troubles Pereira.

I really like how Khalil moves to the right when he retreats to the fence, watches his own Alex’s lead hand, and basically angles out free

Pereira wins in round 3. Rountree is showing off his lead leg and body shots. Things get even more interesting in the main event. #ufc307

3R is 10-9 Poitan.
29-28 Rountree Jr. enters the championship round and Poitan begins to gain significant momentum.

Oh, and really bad body language from Rountree to end that round. Good rebound for Alex.

DC says southpaw jabs don’t work, but Poitan, a traditional fighter who doesn’t often see the opposite stance, jabs Khalil in the face.

I wonder if Khalil is having trouble breathing because his nose hurts from Alex’s work. #UFC307

Alex Pereira hits Khalil Rountree #UFC307 It was his third UFC title defense in 175 days, setting a record.
First of all, let me declare him the 2024 Fighter of the Year. And already this victory was not.

Alex Pereira is in a league of his own!!
He overcame some adversity early on, but once he made the read, it was game over for Rountree Jr. 👏🏻 #UFC307

Pereira is a hell of a savage! Systematic breakdown after round 2. Lead leg kicks and body shots worked. Veteran striker moves. But what about Rountree? Great performance from Khalil! At 205 pounds there was very little I did to AP. #ufc307
