As expected, Youngstown State’s defense was no match for Eli Holstein and the University of Pittsburgh’s offense, and the Panthers won 73-17.
Holstein’s magical start to his University of Pittsburgh career continued as he completed 16 of 24 passes for 247 yards and three touchdown passes while also rushing for 93 yards and two rushing touchdowns.
The redshirt freshman is the first University of Pittsburgh quarterback to throw three touchdown passes in each of a season’s first four games since former Pittsburgh quarterback Rod Rutherford in 2003.
Another story of the day was the best game of his career from sixth-year senior running back Daniel Carter, who ran for 115 yards and three touchdowns.
Overall, it was the kind of day Pittsburgh was hoping for heading into its bye week.
Please rate it!

Raise your hand if you thought going into the season that Pittsburgh would go 4-0 in non-conference play this year. H2P

University of Pittsburgh Head Coach Pat Narduzzi talks about today’s performance.
“That was the winning scenario today. I wanted to give it my all.”
He said the past three meetings with YSU have been close, and that was the case this time as well.

Pittsburgh has two quality QBs and decent WR depth, and if the defense can find an interior D-lineman, this team might have something.

Big win. Pittsburgh was dominant from start to finish. Eli is a special player for sure. This team is in great hands.

#pit Quarterback Eli Holstein said he had two or three touchdowns left on the field.
He told Ben Sauls that instead of kicking a field goal, he should kick the extra point.

The last time Pitt started a season 4-0, the No. 1 song in America was Madonna’s “Music.”

I know it was YSU, but Pittsburgh’s performance today was impressive, and you only have to point out the number of FCS games they’ve struggled and even lost to realize how impressive it was that they outplayed their opponents from the opening bell to the end.
