Get into the spooky spirit of Halloween with Workhouse Haunt. Now in its 11th season, one of Northern Virginia’s most popular Halloween events brings even more scares (and laughs) to its spooky outdoor walk-through trail. The Haunt takes guests on a frightening journey through historic buildings, abandoned former prisons, and encounters terrifying characters and sights and sounds not for the faint of heart. This year’s event, Haunt: Twisted Tales of Terror, will take place on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from October 4th to November 2nd, and on Halloween night on October 31st. Tickets are on sale now. Prices start at $25 per person. For schedule and event details, visit www.workhousearts.org.
This year’s theme, “Twisted Tales of Terror,” features more than a dozen spooky live-action scenes depicting classic fairy tales gone awry, including Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and Pinocchio. To keep everything running smoothly, guests will travel in small groups via timed entry. While waiting for their time slot or completing their trail experience, guests can enjoy Halloween fun in the Riser Pavilion. DJ mix music (Friday, Saturday and Halloween nights). The bar serves snacks, including Halloween-themed alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Sweet and delicious food truck treats. The Haunt Pop-Up Shop features Halloween art and trinkets.
“Workhouse Haunt is a Northern Virginia favorite,” said Joseph Warren, director of performing arts. “This is not just Halloween entertainment, it is also an extension of the Workhouse Performing Arts program, where local communities, youth and adults are trained by experienced professionals to practice their acting skills, set design and general stage skills. We have close to 100 paid and volunteer participants this year.”
