New Delhi [India]September 21st: Translumina was founded in 2011 as a sales and marketing company specializing in coronary intervention devices. Since its inception, the company has established its own manufacturing capabilities and developed its own product line that is favored by interventional cardiologists around the world.
“Translumina has a clear ambition to take India to the top of the global rankings in medical devices and realise the national vision ‘Make in India, Make for the World’. Indian engineering and innovation will be at the forefront of the medical device industry. The launch of our direct presence in the UAE is a step in that direction,” said Gurmit Singh Choo, co-founder and chairman, Translumina Therapeutics.
Punita Sharma Arora, Co-founder and Vice Chairperson, Translumina, agreed, adding, “We have been present in international markets for over five years now, building a strong direct presence in Europe and South Asia. In the past year alone, we have invested in our direct presence in Latin America and Southeast Asia, and now with the addition of the MENA region, we are confident that our comprehensive product portfolio will reach every corner of the world.”
The company’s drug-eluting stent technology, developed through a technical collaboration with the prestigious German Heart Center, has led to the development of groundbreaking medical devices, including the world’s longest-studied DES, with more than 10 years of safety and effectiveness data.
Last year, Translumina acquired Blue Medical, a Dutch medical device company specializing in drug-coated balloons, and Lamed, a leader in the German vascular surgery market, further strengthening its product portfolio. “We partnered with Translumina with a vision to make it a truly global company. Our expansion in the UAE, coupled with the acquisitions of Blue Medical and Lamed, will strengthen our global presence, especially in the fast-growing MENA region,” recalled Arjun Oberoi, Managing Director of Everstone Capital and a member of the Translumina Board.
“We are pleased to establish our base in the UAE, a country known for its strategic importance and business innovation,” added Indranil Mukherjee, group CEO of Translumina. “This will enable us to strengthen our global presence and better serve the MENA region while making quality healthcare more accessible.”
