Golf course superintendents, look away. You may find the following video disturbing. View with caution.
Top-50 bubble boy Tom Kim was in good form at the FedEx St. Jude Championship on Sunday, shooting four under par through the first 15 holes with no bogeys, putting a spot in next week’s BMW Championship within his reach.
Kim quickly collapsed after that, finishing with a horrifying 6-6-6: bogey, double bogey, double bogey. But his frustration finally exploded on the 12th hole, when Kim missed a six-foot shot for birdie and had to make do with a tap-in for par. But before tapping in, the 22-year-old hit a hard shot into a spot on the green that he felt prevented him from getting a birdie. He ended up putting a dent in the green and then apparently walked away without repairing it.
The video ends halfway through, but the scene where Kim scoops the ball out of the hole and walks away is extremely grim.
Golf Twitter, predictably, didn’t hold back.
According to some astute observers, Kim’s caddie, Paul Tesori, ended up fixing the dent. Either way, it didn’t look good.
Kim’s troubles at the end of the race also look set to be a big loss.
