The newest Yahoo Finance podcast, “Capitol Gains,” premieres at a pivotal time for investors.
With the presidential election approaching, one of the biggest issues facing candidates is uncertainty about the economy. With inflation still putting a strain on wallets and unemployment starting to creep up, economic policy has become a focus for incumbents and challengers alike.
Former President Donald Trump’s highly anticipated speech at the Republican National Convention drew attention, especially in the aftermath of the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
“I want to immediately end the crippling inflation crisis, lower interest rates and lower energy costs,” he told delegates. Meanwhile, doubts remain about the candidacy of current President Joe Biden and whether he will remain the Democratic nominee in the Nov. 5 presidential election.
Yahoo Finance’s Rachel Akufo, Ben Warshkull and Rick Newman discussed what all of this means for national policy in the coming years.
They also spoke with Henrietta Treys of Veda Partners, who expects the election to “return to its previously scheduled program” and believes Biden’s withdrawal from the race is a sure thing.
