“Golden Bachelorette” contestant Gil Ramirez will be edited out of upcoming episodes of the ABC reality dating show for seniors after it was revealed that a temporary restraining order was filed against a 60-year-old educator from Mission Viejo, California.
USA Today obtained legal documents from California Superior Court, which state that a 62-year-old woman who was in a relationship with Ramirez was granted a temporary restraining order against her for “emotional harassment,” according to a June 11 court filing.
“Despite telling him not to contact me and to come to my house, he has engaged in multiple unwanted contact with me, my family and friends,” the woman wrote in her application for a domestic restraining order. “He has made up to 25 attempts each day by phone, text and video. He has confronted me daily by showing up at places I frequent, despite living an hour away.”
The woman said the emotional abuse began two weeks ago in May, when she demanded that Ramirez have no contact with her and kept her out of her home, workplace, car and her children’s school.
According to California Superior Court records, the temporary restraining order was “dismissed” after a hearing on July 24 for “lack of prosecution.”

Ramirez appeared on ABC’s “The Golden Bachelorette” premiere Wednesday night as one of 24 suitors and received a rose from Joan Vasos, securing her a spot on the show in the future.
A person familiar with the matter who was not authorized to speak publicly told USA Today that ABC and “The Golden Bachelorette” executives only “recently” learned about the lawsuit against Ramirez.
“This application comes shortly after our thorough background investigation and exhaustive vetting process is complete and before production begins,” the person said.
“As a result of this newly confirmed information, we have decided to further edit (Ramirez’s) already limited screen time and minimize his appearances in future promotional assets.”
USA TODAY has reached out to Ramirez for comment through ABC.
