Haley Way, 28, pleaded guilty this week to two felony counts of having an inappropriate relationship with a student, but is not required to register as a sex offender.
Way worked at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, where as a math teacher she began having relationships with two male students.
Both men were 17, the legal age of consent in Texas, which is primarily why Way does not have to register as a sex offender.
One of the boys told police his relationship with Wei began after she traveled to Africa with her family.
The boy told investigators the two slept together several times after that, but he ended the relationship after hearing rumors that she had gone hiking with another boy.
The second boy told police he had sex with Wei during a hike. The two had been communicating on social media and Wei had invited him on the trip. Investigators said Wei later asked him to delete the conversation.
The relationship came to light after another student reported to school officials that he had seen text messages between one of the boys and Mr. Wei.

The school asked the boy’s parents to speak to police, and they agreed.
It’s against Texas law for teachers to have sexual relations with students, but that doesn’t seem to deter many teachers from doing so.
In 2015, the Texas Education Agency filed 188 lawsuits over teacher interactions with students, the seventh consecutive year that lawsuits have increased annually.
School officials say text messaging and social media are facilitating inappropriate relationships.
Wei is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10.
