Taraji P. Henson’s TPH Entertainment has hired Emmy Award-winning producer Jamila Jordan Theus as executive director of development and production.
In his new role, Jordan Theus will oversee scripted series, feature films and unscripted content for TPH Entertainment. Henson, a Golden Globe-winning, Emmy-, Academy Award- and SAG Award-nominated actor, founded the brand in 2020.
“I am thrilled to welcome Jamila Jordan Theus to TPH Entertainment,” Henson said in a statement announcing the hire. “Her vision, creativity and passion for storytelling align perfectly with our company’s mission to bring bold, authentic and diverse voices to the forefront. Together we are excited to push boundaries and create impactful content that will resonate with audiences around the world.”
Jordan Theus added, “Taraji P. Henson is a prolific powerhouse and an icon in the industry, and I’m thrilled to collaborate with her at TPH Entertainment. We continue to build alongside dynamic visionaries, storytellers and artists. We are committed to celebrating cultural depth and challenging societal norms by producing thoughtful, free-spirited and compelling content.”
Under its overall deal with BET Studios, TPH Entertainment is developing a variety of projects, including “Moorwood Family Rules,” a dramatization of the HelenKay Dimon novel. Variety exclusively announced the project earlier this month, with Henson starring and executive producing and Justin Simien directing. TPH Entertainment will produce in association with Heartbeat and Culture Machine.
Jordan Theus joins TPH Entertainment from Marsai Martin’s Genius Entertainment, where she served as Head of Film, leading feature film development including “Fantasy Football” for Paramount+. Previously, she was Creative Executive at The Spring Hill Company and Director of Non-Scripted Development at Sirens Media/ITV Studios. Her credits include the Emmy Award-winning talk series “Turning The Tables with Robin Roberts,” YouTube Original’s “Best Shot,” Netflix’s “7 Days Out,” Paramount’s “Ink Master,” and CNN’s “Dreamland: The Rise and Fall of Black Wall Street.” She also served as co-producer for YouTube’s live social impact series “Bear Witness, Take Action.”
