Sydney Sweeney’s phone number was reportedly hacked on the same day she became a victim of a cryptocurrency scam.
The 26-year-old “Euphoria” star’s Verizon Wireless phone number was hijacked on July 2, according to technology website 404 Media.
On the same day, Sweeney’s X (formerly Twitter) account was compromised and promoted cryptocurrency.

A copy of the July 2 Verizon Wireless receipt was posted online and obtained by technology news site 404 Media.
The image shows a person with their hand on a Verizon Wireless receipt next to an iPhone and its box in the trunk of a car.
The receipt is for a payment order completed on July 2nd for $37.54.
It says, “Hello SYDNEY SWEENEY. Thank you for your order.”
The Washington Post has contacted Sweeney’s representatives for comment.
Verizon spokesman Richard Young said in a statement to The Washington Post that “we cannot discuss specific customer situations,” but added, “Verizon takes our customer privacy and account security very seriously. When issues are reported to us, we promptly investigate, resolve and prevent them from happening again.”

Sweeney’s official X account appears to have been accessed by the same hackers who compromised her phone number.
On July 2, the account, which has more than 1 million followers, promoted a common cryptocurrency scam that occurs against celebrities.
Trading volume for a cryptocurrency coin called SWEENEY reportedly reached $10 million after the hackers shared it on Sweeney’s account.
“Okay I think it’s about time…Sweeney is live now, 100mc coming,” one since deleted tweet from Sweeney’s account said.
Another post read, “$Sweeney to the moon. Queen of the Sun, baby. RT $Sweeney for a chance to win $10,000. Enter here.”
In a third tweet, Sweeney’s account claimed he would be “going live on Spaces soon” to promote the cryptocurrency.
Other celebrities who have been targeted by crypto scams include 50 Cent, Hulk Hogan and Caitlyn Jenner.

Sweeney encountered other drama on social media after hosting “Saturday Night Live” in March.
When X users searched for “leaked” lewd photos of Sweeney, they received a flood of spam and what appeared to be malware.
The content is X Rules and Policies.
“If you’ve been infected with this obvious malware because you were searching for Sydney Sweeney’s breasts on Twitter, there’s no way we can help you,” wrote Samantha Cole, who reported on the scam for 404 Media.
404 Media argued that spam content was rampant on X due to “poor governance of the platform” under Elon Musk.
The platform, formerly known as Twitter, has been plagued by the spread of hate speech, misinformation and spam since the billionaire bought it in 2022 in an attempt to turn it into a “bastion of free speech,” and has lost advertisers as a result.
