Through Week 4 of the season, the underdogs are still beating the NFL betting odds.
Heading into two Monday night NFL games, underdog teams are 9-4-1 against the spread at BetMGM Online Sportsbook this week.
And with Week 5 of college football, the WNBA playoffs, the Presidents Cup, and the end of the baseball regular season, there’s even more entertainment to enjoy.
This week’s trends
The Cincinnati Bengals defeated the Carolina Panthers 34-24, earning their first win of the season. Cincinnati was one of the most bet teams on Sunday, winning 81% of bets and 89% of money against the spread. The Bengals were 4.5 point favorites to win.
The college football game between Alabama and Georgia was a rough one. After a back-and-forth final quarter, Alabama won 41-34. Georgia State finished as a 2.5-point favorite with 45% of the prize money and 57% of the stakes going to the Bulldogs. It was the first time since 2007 that Alabama was trailing at home.
Of the five players most bet to score a touchdown at any time Sunday, only two were able to reach the end zone: Marvin Harrison Jr. (+100) and Kyren Williams (-145). . Aaron Jones (+120), Breece Hall (-165) and Saquon Barkley (-150) did not score.
This week’s upset
The biggest upset in the NFL was the Denver Broncos defeating the New York Jets 10-9. Denver trailed by eight points and won 45% of its money on anti-the-spread bets. Teams with a score of 7 points or more have 5 wins and 1 loss this season.
In college football, the University of Michigan was the favorite to win by 10.5 points over Minnesota. The Wolverines won the game 27-24, but were unable to cover the deficit. 73 percent of the bets were covered by Michigan State.
On Saturday, the three underdogs with the highest stakes to win in college football all won – Alabama (-105), BYU (+140) and Colorado State (+450).

The stakes will increase in MLB this week as the playoffs begin.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the favorites to win the World Series at +325, followed by the Philadelphia Phillies and New York Yankees at +450.
