Former President Donald J. Trump was rushed off the stage on Saturday after shots were fired into the area where he was speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania, and authorities said the incident was being investigated as an assassination attempt.
The rally took place on the grounds of the Butler Farm Show in western Pennsylvania, about 35 miles from Pittsburgh. One attendee at the rally was killed, two were seriously injured, and Secret Service agents shot and killed the suspected gunman, a Secret Service spokesman said in a statement.

Two law enforcement officials said an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle was recovered from the body of the suspected shooter, a white man, whose body was found on a rooftop a few hundred feet from the stage.
“I was shot by a bullet just above my right ear,” Trump said in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. “I heard a whoosh, a gunshot and felt the bullet go through my skin so I knew right away something was wrong.” Shortly after the incident, a Trump campaign spokesman said the former president was “ok” and was being examined at a local medical facility.
