Saab announced that it has delivered the fifth of a series of five GlobalEye early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft to the UAE.
“Saab has worked closely with the UAE Air Force to develop, manufacture and deliver five state-of-the-art GlobalEye aircraft in less than ten years, further strengthening Saab’s position as a leading provider in the airborne early warning and control field,” said Karl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s Surveillance business unit.
GlobalEye is an advanced multi-domain AEW&C solution with an array of active and passive sensors that detect and identify air, sea and land objects at long ranges. By providing Air Force, Army and Navy forces with real-time information, GlobalEye enhances situational awareness of their surrounding areas and enables earlier threat detection.
Saab and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Ministry of Defense signed a contract in January announcing that Saab had received an order for operational support of the GlobalEye airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) solution, valued at approximately USD 190 million for a three-year period ending in 2026. The contract includes maintenance and logistics support, as well as training services.
“This contract strengthens Saab’s role in ensuring GlobalEye remains mission capable. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with the UAE Air Force and Air Defence and providing long-term local support,” said Carl-Johan Bergholm, head of Saab’s Surveillance business unit.
