Getting fired is never fun, but when you’re a famous media personality like Robert Griffin III who works for a massive network like ESPN, it’s probably even less fun because it’s like the whole world knows you’ve lost your job.
But RG3 had the best reaction to something he apparently never expected: On Thursday, after reports surfaced that Griffin and colleague Sam Ponder had been slammed by the network due to budget cuts, Griffin shared a meme about the situation on X (formerly Twitter).
But he didn’t just share a meme. He shared a clip from the movie “Friday,” in which John Witherspoon’s Pops scolds his son Craig for trouble at work, saying: [expletive] “Are you going to get fired on your day off?” Great. 10/10. No notes.

The use of memes was very sophisticated and fans had a lot of fun with it.

Self-deprecation…the usual behavior. 🤣
Well done. You’ll do fine. You’ll be fine. 👊🏻
