At this point, I think it’s fair to say that Manor Solomon has no future at Tottenham Hotspur, at least this season. He was signed last summer as essentially a cheap punt from Ukrainian side Shakhtar Doneshku in the midst of the Eastern European wars that were disrupting the Ukrainian Premier League, and played a handful of games at the start of last season before suffering a major injury that ruled him out for the rest of the year.
Since then, he has made a few appearances in Spurs’ early pre-season matches this summer but failed to make an impact and with him not being part of manager Ange Postecoglou’s plans this season, there have been reports that Spurs are considering loaning him out. Israeli sports media Sport5il has now reported that Leeds United are interested in leading Manor to the Championship this season.
This is the first report on Manor’s potential loan destinations, and the fact that it’s appearing in Israeli media suggests it has a fair amount of plausibility. The report doesn’t go into too much detail, but it does say that Solomon has interest from clubs both in England and abroad (Italy, Spain and Germany are mentioned), but would prefer to stay in the Premier League if possible. We don’t know if that’s possible, but if he feels comfortable in England at the moment, the Championship might be the next best thing.
At this point I can’t imagine a situation where Salomon would be registered in Tottenham’s Europa League squad and that would be his best opportunity to get playing time for Tottenham this season, so a loan move makes sense. A loan move might get him somewhere he can actually play and establish his market at the same time. Who knows if he’ll end up at Leeds, but it’s clear he’ll be loaned out somewhere before the transfer window closes.
