As of this writing, the Kats! station is The Perch at Allegiant Stadium, a multi-purpose venue. Last weekend it was Pink. Today it’s Silver & Black.
More from this scene and elsewhere.
Raiders Band New Scene
David Perico and the Raiders House Band will host a “Friday Night Tailgate” in the front yard at Ellis Island, an event that will run from 10pm until late throughout the season.
Like a wide open receiver, there is no coverage.
“We’ll be taking advantage of a great venue to create a tailgate scene for Raiders fans on game weekend,” said Perico, who grew up in Youngstown, Ohio, and learned the art of tailgating at Cleveland’s Municipal Stadium. “We think the locals and Raiders fans will love it.”
This is the full band that plays at Raiders home games and related official team events. The Front Yard is a walled-in fortress of class facing Koval Lane.
The venue was conceived by the Ellis family, who also own the hotel, casino, and brewery, and it always had plenty of potential as a live music event space — the operators have even tried comedy here, but music is better.
There will be a full bar, a menu of tailgate-style snacks, and a band capable of playing any tune, including “Autumn Winds.”
Dita’s outfit
Dita Von Teese opens Voltaire at The Venetian, an evening venue that’s not really a nightclub but an immersive entertainment hotspot. Von Teese has relocated from the old Jubilee Theatre in the Horseshoe, and for the new production she brings her famous costumes, designed by Bob Mackie and Pete Menefee.
Von Teese paid tribute to those who allowed him to use these works: “Mr. Von Teese is grateful to Caesars Entertainment for allowing him to use these priceless archives. Mr. Von Teese also expresses his deep gratitude to Kurt Meline and Live Nation.”
Mellain and Live Nation are serving as consultants on the new show, which is produced by the Venetian and its chief entertainment executive, former Caesars executive Michael Gruber. It’s a rare instance of a mega-resort company publicly thanking a rival mega-resort on the Strip. And Archival Gems is a great band name.
We spoke with Von Teese at the Hot Spot last week and will have more details about the adventure in the coming days.
Bagels and Laughs
Just as Wiseguys Comedy Club has opened its newest Las Vegas branch at the Westgate Cabaret, Siegel’s Bagelmania is also returning this week with a Thursday night comedy show.
“Bagelmania’s Backroom Comedy” is hosted by Noah Gardenswirtz and Esther Steinberg (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Conan, Funny Girls, Gotham Comedy Live) and features club veterans Trix, Chris Storin, Josalyn Sharp and Lauren Rochelle. Last month the Backroom was packed; this week the event will take place in the Main Dining Room. Doors open at 7 p.m., special “comedy menu,” ages 18 and over. Cool Hang Alert
Niki Scala’s fantastic Shirley Bassey revue, Diamonds Are Forever, opens at Myron’s on Friday at 7pm. Musical director is Keith Thompson. Scala’s voice and Thompson’s piano are everything you need in this tribute to the James Bond singer.
Scaler is a well-known and popular performer throughout the city, having appeared in productions such as “Cocktail Cabaret” at Caesars Palace and “We Will Rock You” at the Paris Theatre, and as a vocalist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic. On Broadway, she has appeared as Penny Pingleton in Disney’s “Tarzan” and “Hairspray.” Thompson performs “Piano Party” every other Tuesday at the Composer’s Room and one Wednesday a month at Myron’s for the Composer’s Showcase of Las Vegas.
