ABU DHABI: Masood M. Sharif Mahmoud, CEO of e&UAE, said the company’s impressive growth in subscriber numbers in the UAE, now exceeding 14.5 million, reflects the company’s leadership and commitment to providing innovative services and products that meet the evolving needs of its customers.
Masood said e&UAE’s investments in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things have increased operational efficiency and competitiveness, cementing e&UAE’s leadership position in the communications and information technology sector both regionally and globally. This commitment to innovation and quality services contributes to the development of society and strengthens the UAE’s position as a global centre of innovation and technology.
He highlighted e&UAE’s notable achievements in the first quarter of 2024, including retaining the top spot in the list of strongest brands in the global telecommunications sector for 2024. Additionally, the APAC Centre of Excellence awarded e&UAE the ISO 37001:2016 certification for its Anti-Bribery Management System, highlighting the company’s commitment to ethical business practices.
During this period, e&UAE became the first operator to join Yahsat’s Direct to Device (D2D) service, offering the benefits of satellite communications via smartphones, and the company also became the first to successfully test 50G PON technology for fixed broadband services in the Middle East.
Masood highlighted the strategic steps e&UAE is taking to strengthen its leading position in communications and information technology in 2024. The company has signed several strategic agreements and partnerships to support the digital transformation in the UAE, drive innovation and provide superior services to private and corporate customers.
Key initiatives include agreements to provide UAE businesses with advanced communications solutions to support their digital transformation efforts. e&UAE has also worked with Huawei to test the first 800GE router in the MENA region, taking a major step towards adopting 800GE technology. The company is the first company outside North America to deploy Microsoft’s Azure Operator Nexus solution and Azure Operator 5G Core.
e&UAE has forged notable collaborations with international companies to enhance 5G network capabilities, including partnering with Ericsson and Nokia to showcase its multi-access network division technology, and partnered with Corning to provide Fiber to Yachts (FTTY) services at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi.
Masood highlighted the launch of the National Company Creation Programme, designed to support entrepreneurs with businesses wholly owned by UAE nationals, enabling them to sell and market e&UAE services and solutions across the emirate.
He also highlighted the Memorandum of Understanding with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, a strategic step aimed at promoting the growth of the business community through innovative communication solutions, digital services and special packages for SMEs in the UAE.
Finally, he highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership with Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, which aims to strengthen the country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, support start-ups and ease access to e&UAE communications and digital solutions.
