Bronny James is one of the players who could be selected in the 2024 draft. His short career at USC raised many questions about his potential NBA career, but his father-son relationship with LeBron James was fascinating.
Months before the draft, King warned the entire league that he would consider playing for any team that would recruit Bronny, and from that moment on, rumors flew on a historic scale.
But as the draft approached, Bronny’s agent, Rich Paul, made it clear the Los Angeles Lakers were the ones to acquire him, though there were other teams that had a real shot.
The Phoenix Suns wanted to draft Bronny James
The Phoenix Suns were the only team with a fair chance to draft Bronny James, and owner Matt Ishbia finally confirmed that theory in an interview with Pat McAfee.
“I don’t really know where Bronny wanted to go. We really liked Bronny. We thought he was a good player. I know the Lakers drafted him and we hope he has a great career. Bronny has a high basketball IQ and has accomplished a lot of great things. Being the son of one of the greatest players of all time puts a lot of pressure on him.”
So, as many rumors have pointed out, the Suns were actually considering having Bronny play in The Valley: “We thought he’d fit in well here in Phoenix. Obviously the Lakers drafted him and we wish him the best. We’re feeling good. People want to come here. We want to be a destination for NBA players.”
