Grammy-winning pop stars need their sleep.
In the midst of her Guts tour, 21-year-old singer Olivia Rodrigo spoke to Complex magazine about how getting a good night’s sleep on the road has helped her recover from demanding performances.
“I sleep a lot when I’m on tour, sometimes 13 hours a day. It’s exhausting,” she said in a post published on Friday. “So that’s what gets me through most of the time. But I also read a book or watch a show that’s comforting.”
“I watch ‘Sex and the City’ every day to keep myself grounded and feel at home,” the “Vampire” singer added.
Despite his busy touring schedule, Los Angeles-based Rodrigo said he’s always able to relax in his own bed when he performs at the Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
“It’s amazing. It’s a little weird. I’ve been touring for so long in different cities all over the world, so it’s funny to wake up in my bed and be like, ‘Oh, it’s show time!'” she explained. “It’s a little bit out of my normal routine, but it’s just so nice to come home and have all my friends and family come to the show. It feels really good.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Rodrigo enthused about his second album, Guts, which celebrates its one-year anniversary next month, saying he’s “really proud” of it.
“I worked really hard on this album and it wasn’t always easy, so I’m really happy that I persevered and came out with a record that I’m really proud of,” she said. “I learned a lot about discipline and creativity, and sometimes you’re not feeling like, ‘I just can’t wait to sit at the piano.’ [important to] Hone your skills.”
