OGC Nice are struggling with injuries up front. Terem Moffi injured his anterior cruciate ligament in pre-season and will miss most of the season. Jeremie Boga was also injured in pre-season but is close to returning. Sofiane Diop is a long-term absentee and so is Gaétan Laborde, who broke his metatarsal in training on Friday and could be out for two to three months.
It is therefore not surprising that Nice are considering reaching into the market to sign another striker, but the club’s limited funds are a major constraint. As reported by RMC Sport and confirmed by Get French Football News, former Lille OSC forward and free agent Yussouf Yazici is a likely candidate, with ex-Eglon Neal Maupay also in the running, but signing the Everton player is considered financially impossible for Nice.
According to L’Equipe, two other free agents are under consideration – Wissam Ben Yedder and Memphis Depay – but again wage demands are likely to be a major stumbling block. Depay is currently training in Monaco, just a few kilometres from Nice, but for now a move for the former Atletico Madrid man seems unlikely.
