Martha Karua, leader of the National Rainbow Coalition of Kenya (NARC), on Saturday, July 27, 2024, rejected the nomination by X-User for the position of Attorney General (AG).
Netizen @PeterKariukiKe, while outlining her qualifications, said Ms Kalua is highly suitable for the position.
Karuiki added that the Kenya Kwanzaa government needs her advice and she should immediately take up the post.
“I support @MarthaKarua as Attorney General. Her advice is much needed by government. Martha Karua should assume the role immediately,” Kariuki said.
But things took a turn and the former presidential candidate withdrew his endorsement of her.

Karua, who is a qualified advocate at the High Court, said on her account that she is not interested in filling the vacancy and becoming Kenya’s first female Attorney General.
“Thanks, I’m not interested,” she said.
The Iron Lady served in the previous government as Member of Parliament for Gichugu Constituency from 1993 to 2013 and as Minister of Water Resources Management and Development from 2003 to 2005.
She also ran for president in 2013 and was selected as running mate to Raila Odinga, the presidential candidate of the Azimio Ra Umoja One Kenya Alliance, in the last general elections.

Narcotics agents exit Azimio
On 25 July 2024, NARC Kenya announced its formal withdrawal from the Azimio coalition government, shortly after President William Ruto appointed four key members of the coalition-affiliated Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to his new cabinet.
The party’s acting Secretary-General Asya Bashir conveyed the party’s decision in an official letter to Secretary-General of Azimio Secretariat Junet Mohammed.
“Please understand that due to the current political situation, it is not possible for us to remain in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya coalition. We, as NARC Kenya, hereby give notice of our withdrawal from the coalition as provided for in the withdrawal clause of the coalition agreement. This notice shall take effect from the date of this letter,” the letter read.
The Nark leader confirmed the departure and said his party’s time in the coalition was over.
“Our stay at the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance is no longer sustainable,” Kalua said.
