Buffalo Bills pass rusher Von Miller was suspended for four games Tuesday for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy, the league announced.
Miller will miss the Bills’ next four games, but will be eligible to return on Oct. 28.
Although not specifically announced, the suspension likely stems from Miller’s felony domestic violence incident from last fall. Miller turned himself in to police in Texas last November on suspicion of assaulting a pregnant woman, a third-degree felony. Miller is accused of assaulting his longtime girlfriend and the mother of his children at an apartment complex in Dallas. Among other things, Miller allegedly strangled his girlfriend twice, tore off some of her hair, and stomped on her laptop during an argument.
However, Miller’s girlfriend downplayed the incident and denied any actual assault took place. Miller later said the claims were completely false and “disproportionate.” The case ultimately ended without charges being filed. The NFL has continued its investigation ever since.
Miller was also investigated for domestic violence in 2021 while playing for the Denver Broncos, but was not charged in that case either.
Miller will enter the third year of a six-year, $120 million contract with the Bills this fall. The 35-year-old played in all four games this season, totaling five tackles and three sacks, helping Buffalo to a 3-1 start. Due to the suspension, Miller will miss this weekend’s game against the Houston Texans, and then games against the New York Jets, Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks. It should be ready in time for the Bills-Miami Dolphins game on November 3rd.
