McDonald’s has been hit by its first fall in global sales since the start of the pandemic in 2020 as consumers cut back on spending.
Outlets open for at least a year saw sales fall 1% over the April-June period compared with a year earlier.
The drop came despite the hamburger chain offering money off deals to try to win back cost-conscious customers and those who have boycotted the chain over the Israel-Gaza war.
Boss Chris Kempczinski said the poor results had forced the company into a “comprehensive rethink” of pricing.

imagine eating mcdonalds more than a few times a year maximum in 2024 its like dog food quality and overpriced
We aren’t buying overpriced trash food anymore. We aren’t buying from companies that support genocide. #boycottMcdonalds
Macca's burgers have gone up in price and shrunk in size and quality.
You reap what you sow.
No more dollar menu
No one remembers China and Russia cutting them off and creating there own replicated versions 😂
plus… they are shrinking the beef patties..
Free Palestine
$30 for me to eat at mcds. I can get an xl pizza with 4 toppings for $20
🇺🇸😋We are budget conscious consumers….ol——RIGHT 👍🇺🇸
How about stop funding a genocide. Don’t be ignorant, people boycotted this and now they’re grasping.
DUDE here at germany I can go to a real restaurant and pay less then mcdonalds…
I live in Estonia and 2 years ago 1 big mac meal costed around 4-5 euros. Now 1 big mac meal costs 7-8 euros. I remember getting 20 nuggets for 7 euros and now i can get 6 nugs for the same price
bro all these food places have gotten really greedy- their cost hasn’t changed that much – there was a few shortages but all these companies changes there prices which were all higher – and never decreased their prices- which honestly was bad business practice. everyone is trying to get away with it- now the economy is down and nobody wants to pay for bs prices –
this ain’t just a mcdonald’s issue- there’s needs to be a cap on inflation (10% max on the original price) after that the irs can fine those companies.
My god, a health tax on itself
BRING BACK THE CURLY FRIES and I'll go back
They need to upgrade the Happy Meal toys
mcdonalds started to think that they really are a restaurant with quality food, and charge accordingly lol.
Gonna need to slim up on the calories and the price margins.
Company that makes food that's destroying their customer's health, decides driving customers away be price-gouging them isn't a sustainable business tactic. Corporate greed, we know it well. It's why rent and housing prices are up. It's why the latest round of inflation actually turned out to be corporate greed. One political party in the US champions corporate greed, the other supports union labor laws. One supports overthrowing democracy in favor of a failed, convicted felon, former reality TV show star, pathological liar, the other doesn't. Greed isn't good. Not even for the greedy.
Who cares, the price rise has done nothing but reinforce that it’s utter garbage. Empty that filth out onto a plate and look at what you’re eating and you realise you’re spending near to £20 for something that looks like a 7 year olds dinner.
McDonald’s whole selling point was that it was cheap, nobody ever thought the food was good quality, not surprised this is happening
that's what you get for giving free food to children killers.
It’s not the price. It’s rubbish. Not even eligible to be called food
You can go to aldi and make burgers and fries and drink even a dessert for less than £10
Not only its expensive but the quality has gine down big time
The other chains aren't better.
Went to burger king the other day bc of a coupon. Bought an additional chili cheese burger. The price almost knocked me out: € 2,89 / $ 3,22. O n e thin burger. That's legal theft.
If we had a Chinese buffet restaurant, I'd probably never eat at McDonald's again.
Both isn't healthy, but the first one doesn't leave you hungrym
Asolute.crap
Has nothing to do with the cost of living, they’ve been boycotted because they helped feed a genocide
Genuinely baffles me that people consider these expensive. I really don't know where else you get 500 calories for £2, what must people think of Five Guys?!
If McDonald's was served in prisons, there would be riots. They haven't got the leverage to charge what they do
It won’t be cheaper, it will be more dangerous for our health..
Maybe it’s time for them to reintroduce smashed avocado on toast. They gave a healthy menu a good run in Australia for less than six months before dropping it completely.
How ironic, nothing at all to do with the boycott
Buget has nothing to do with it . Slowly the public is starting to learn about the chemicals that goes into this "food" more of certain chemicals in a large fries than 20 cigarettes. This food is made to make profits not to feed you , wake up .
or maybe bc theyre getting boycotted hard lmao
Make McChicken $1 again
McDonalds is supposed to be close to Costco levels of cheap, not Olive Garden for a fish fillet. How do you expect to retain customers when the quality and portions don't change, yet the price exceeds better quality restaurants. A large fries is 6 dollars in Canada now.
How about rethinking supporting a genocide
When I worked at McDonalds in 2013. The district guy that came around told me it cost 13 cents to make a Big Mac. And the burger itself sold for 5 something, a cup was 10 cents I don’t remember what he said the fries cost. So. If prices rose for them by 40% then it must cost something like 25 cents to just make the burger. You can’t tell me it costs 25 cents and you need to charge 10$. I’m not going to do that math but it sounds like 1000% mark up.
Garbage food, over priced tosh, that's damaging you at the same time
Boycott boycott 🎉🎉🎉
They like to blame that and not tue boycott
Id still pay the high price for the devine taste unbeatable but screw them they support and fund genocide
Michelle looks like Mc Donald's 😂😂😂😂😂
🤮 don't eat this crap not good 4 ya!!
Do ur own homework and see 👀
McDonald’s is woke
