Three Premier League clubs are keeping their eye on Kalvin Phillips in the final week of the transfer window.
Ipswich, Everton and Fulham have all been linked with the 28-year-old as they finalise their squads for this season, while Manchester City had wanted to make the midfielder permanent with him not being part of Pep Guardiola’s plans but are said to be open to another loan move following his impressive spell at West Ham earlier this year.
Phillips is looking for a fresh start after an inexplicably awful two years following his £45million move to City. The former Leeds star has never settled at the Etihad and was hurt by Guardiola’s public criticism of him returning to training after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar while overweight.

Despite turning down offers from other clubs to prove himself under Guardiola at the start of last season, Phillips was never convinced he could play regularly for the team and so he moved on loan to West Ham in January – a move that wasn’t everyone’s favourite – but he was still named a key player for England at Euros this summer by Gareth Southgate and impressed at centre-back for City in pre-season.
Everton have been interested in Phillips for much of the transfer window, with Fulham and Ipswich also looking at him, and even if none of those three complete a move this summer, a loan deal with City could still be agreed.
