For 15 years, Roger Logan had been telling his doctors something wasn’t right about his weight gain.
They replied that he was “just fat.” In reality, Logan had been growing a benign tumor inside his body for over a decade.
Dr Vipul Dev was the only doctor to correctly diagnose Logan’s condition and treat him with surgery. The 57-year-old had the 58kg tumour removed this week.
“We are very fortunate to be able to perform this surgery with very few complications,” Dr. Dev told KERO.
The tumor, likely caused by an ingrown hair, was attached to Logan’s abdomen and its weight forced him to sit in a recliner for years.

Logan said living with the tumour was like “hanging around with three bags of cement all day”.
Logan, from Gulfport, Mississippi, US, flew all the way to California to benefit from Dr Dev’s expertise.
Logan remains optimistic about his recovery and has been sharing regular updates via his Facebook page.
In one photo, he smiles slightly as he holds up a newspaper article about his surgery, and in another video, he jokes about signing autographs for nurses.
The largest tumor ever removed from a human was found to have weighed 242 pounds and belonged to Yang Jianbing of Beijing, China, who was admitted to a Beijing hospital in 2014 with a large tumor on his back.
“We’ve seen patients with neurofibromatosis before, but this is the largest nerve tumor we’ve ever seen,” said lead surgeon Chen Minliang.
The operation to remove Jianbin’s tumour took 16 hours and required a blood transfusion of five litres, more than the average person has.
