(MENAFN-IANS) New Delhi, August 26 (IANS) Defending Premier League champions Manchester City are said to be interested in Copenhagen striker Olli Oskarsson as a back-up to Erling Haaland following the departure of Julian Alvarez.
Oli is expected to leave his current side before the end of the summer transfer window, with a number of European clubs interested in the 19-year-old. The Athletic reports that Manchester City are high praises for the player, but are not expected to make an attempt to sign him as they are happy with their current squad.
The Iceland international scored seven goals in 11 appearances last season and his transfer fee is reportedly set at 20 million euros.
In addition to Manchester City, other Premier League teams are said to be in the running to sign Oscarson, with Porto and Real Sociedad also showing an interest.
Alongside Oskarsson, Manchester City are also said to be interested in Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi.
When Alvarez moved to Atletico Madrid, manager Pep Guardiola acknowledged that the club could try to sign a forward in the transfer window, but nothing was concrete and suggested he was happy with the current squad structure.
“Regarding the squad, I am very happy with the quality of people and players. In other years I might have said ‘no’ but this season it could be until the end of the market. We don’t know yet. We need to have discussions and see what happens,” Guardiola said.
